The word insect derived from the Greek word insecure means cut in pieces or ingraved/segmented.

Insect belong to phylum arthropoda (Ortho = jointed, poda = legs) which is biggest phylum of  kingdom  animalia.

Insect:- Insects are the tracheate arthropods in which the body is divided in to head, thorax and abdomen processing two pairs of wings and 3 pairs of legs and single pair of antennae.

Entomology:- The term entomology is derived from Greek word (endomon = insect, logos = study). It is a branch of zoology or biology science that deals with the study of insects.

1. Study and use of insect in crime investigations is known as Forensic Entomology.

2. Study of insects related to livestock and veterinary animals is known as Veterinary Entomology.

3. Study of insects in relation to human being is known as Medical Entomology.

∆    Asexual Reproduction In fungi asexual reproduction is a more common method than sexual reproduction. It is usually repeated several times in a season. It takes place by the formation of special reproductive cells called spores . The formation of spores in fungi is called sporulation . Each spore develops into a new mycelium. These spores are produced as a result of mitosis in the parent cell and hence they are also called mitospores . The spores vary in colour, shape and size, number, arrangement on hyphae and in the way in which they are borne. They may be hayline, green, yellow, orange, red, brown to black in colour and are minute to large in size. In shape they vary from globose to oval, oblong, needle-shaped to helical.
